Time to Prioritize Your Health Goals

I’ve been winding down this year on a goals streak, talking about how I approach my goals. I revealed a huge secret a couple days ago that made me feel very vulnerable. It was something I’ve struggled with my entire life, affecting my wellbeing but this year is the year I’ve been facing it. Following from that, I’d like to shine an area in another area of my life where I’ve recently made it a goal to level up – my health and nutrition.

That’s not to say this is an area I felt challenged. Actually, we’ve always led a very health-conscious life, my husband being a chef. He has always really opened my eyes up to how important it is to know what we’re putting in our bodies. So, in general, our house is very healthy. We don’t have processed food. We eat a lot of whole foods. We are particular about where we get our meat. But I have a growth mindset in all areas of my life and this is no different. There is always something to learn and areas for improvement. When we’re setting our balance, everything counts. Optimizing every area of our life leads to our bigger successes. So asking the question, what can I do to be my healthiest self is something I’ve been asking a lot lately. What are the areas we can check in on, big or small? It’s all about staying intentional about how we set up everything. So I have been taking an inventory of what is going in my body on every level, right down to what I am feeding it.

And thinking about that, I’ve also been thinking about my family’s health because that affects me too. So I recently went to my pediatrician for a yearly checkup with Madden and asked, “should my kids be taking vitamins, especially during current times with COVID?”

My kids have never taken a vitamin but the current times have reminded me to not take health for granted. So, I wondered, are they getting all their vitamins from their foods? I didn’t know what his answer would be because he knows we’re a healthy family. He said they should be getting the appropriate amount of fruits and vegetables a day but he showed me a pack he had on his desk. He said, this is real food. It’s called Juice Plus. It’s just dehydrated, fruits and vegetables in a gummy form for kids. They can eat this, but to be clear, this is not a replacement for eating actual fruits and vegetables. He went on to explain that there’s nothing added to it. It’s not like taking a vitamin, it’s more like they’re eating actual food. This product that’s been around since 1993 and it’s super clean. It’s the appropriate amount of serving per day and all they need to do is eat two a day.

Then I asked, what should I be taking? And it turns out that this company is actually for both kids and adults. It has regular fruit and vegetable capsules, not just gummies. Actually, he told me, the gummy is the same nutrition content as the adult capsules, just packaged into a gummy form to make it more attractive to kids. Adults can take the gummies too if they prefer.  Whaaaaaat!?

I was so intrigued. After I went home, I did a ton of research into this company. I thought, I want to do more research on this company and just make sure this is really what it says it is. I wanted to make sure that I was doing my due diligence for my kids and for me. But everything that I’m finding out, they have done tons of research, even been in medical journals. My husband, John, is very particular so he helped me research some very important questions. Where are those products coming from? Are they dehydrating fruits laced with pesticides? I asked a lot of questions and learned that their farms are very pure, that they test for chemicals in their products and that their overall process is completely legit. From what I learned, they cover all their bases. So, when you get a picky chef’s approval, I think you’re onto something!

I ordered some for my family, capsules for John and I as well as the gummies for the kids. I think this is perfect for my kids and I like knowing that I am not giving them anything artificial. To be honest, for myself, I take other supplements so I have not been taking them as capsules. Instead, I have been using them in my shakes every day. I just open up this capsule and dump it in, as it is literally just dehydrated fruit. The first time, I tasted it before I poured it in my shake and it tasted like vegetables and fruit.

My kids love these gummies and I never have to tell them to eat them. It’s really been mind-blowing to me the nutrition they contain. And that my kids never forget to eat them!

I’m actually really excited about how this is helping my family level up our health. I just think that, especially during COVID times, we really need to pay attention to how we’re fueling our body. I look at it like edible health insurance to ensure my body’s getting what it needs. It’s not a miracle product. It is just about fueling your body and cells for optimum health. I think it’s important to also prioritize your health in terms of what you’re putting in your body and to recognize that it’s hard to always get enough. And good health and balance starts at a young age. So I am setting a healthy foundation for them with these gummies added to their daily nutrition.

Actually, I really like the way the company approaches it as they work on a subscription of 4 months at a time. And that’s because they believe that in four months, your cells regenerate and form some new, stronger cells. Another really cool thing is that when you order the adult fruit and vegetable capsules, you get free kids’ gummies for the entire four months. I’m not even kidding! It’s called Family Start and you can read more about it here!

We live in a healthy house with a chef but we even have days we might need more of certain things for full and balanced daily nutrition. And I think it is worth getting the word out because if our family is a best-case scenario, I know there are a lot of houses that could benefit from this even more. I know so many kids that are so picky that if literally, all they’re eating is carbs, so they’re not getting anywhere near what they need per day.

So if you’re reading this and you want to try this out, I’m happy to help facilitate that for you. Health is such an important part of our life to prioritize so I have started to spread the good word. I’ve already had family and friends of mine try it out for their kids. I’ve been excited to tell everyone about this great product that I believe in that is whole food in a different form. In fact, I was telling so many people about this product that I called my pediatrician and asked if I could rep the product. He wasn’t trying to push it on me at all. In fact, he was surprised by my enthusiasm. And now I am officially a rep and instead of just buying it, I am a rep so I get a discount on my orders and can order it for others.
